We are looking for a PhD student to work in a highly multidiscplinary nationally funded research project ‘Rapid tests for the multiplexed detection of sexually transmitted infections (QUADPOC)’. The overall objective of the project is the development of tools for use at the point of need or care, for the rapid and multiplexed detection of sexually transmitted infections.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), more than one million curable STIs are acquired globally every day!!!!!

We are looking for a PhD student, who is interested in contributing in the fight to detetct and treat STIs via the development of rapid, cost effective and accurate tools. The scholarship will have a duration of 4 years.

  • About the Position

This predoctoral fellowship offers the opportunity to pursue a fully-funded PhD at URV while actively engaging in research and limited teaching activities (up to 60 hours per year, with a total maximum of 180 hours during the four years of the contract). The selected candidate will become part of an interdisciplinary team working at the interface of biology, materials science, and engineering.

  • Contract Duration: 4 years
  • Gross Monthly Salary:

· Years 1-2: €1,515.03
· Year 3: €1,623.25
· Year 4: €2,029.06

  • Eligibility Criteria:

The PhD student should have a background and should hold a Masters in Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biotechnology or closely related fields. Applicants should be fluent in oral and written English and should be able.

Applicants must:
· Older than 18 years of age 
· Meet the functional capacity required for the role
· Master's Degree or equivalent in the spanish ECTS system (Not hold a doctoral degree).
· Fulfill the legal and academic requirements to enroll in a doctoral programme at URV.
